Note: this course is intended for teachers who have already attended the Aistear course or have implemented play based learning in their classrooms
Have you already completed the Aistear – Play, Literacy and Numeracy introductory course? Would you like to learn more about using playful teaching and learning in your classroom? If so, then register for this interactive summer course which has been designed by the Association of Teacher/Education Centres in Ireland (ATECI) in collaboration with the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA). This course enables teachers, who are already using Aistear in their classroom, to delve deeper into the possibilities of play. It enables teachers to develop a deeper understanding of play and provides ideas for supporting a child’s transition to school, developing outdoor play, integrating STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) and play, and exploring the role of play in the development of language. The course will also explore the assessment and progression of play. This course draws on the key ideas in Aistear: the Early Childhood Curriculum Framework (2009) and the Primary Language Curriculum/ Curaclam Teanga na Bunscoile and provides lots of practical ideas for using these in your infant classroom. Take a look at innovative play practices and consider how best to further playful teaching and learning in your classroom.
