19SPR07 Resolving Issues at the Classroom Door: Understanding and Managing Conflict in the Parent/Teacher Relationship
Most Parent-Teacher relationships are positive and constructive. However, in a minority of situations the relationship is conflictual.
Part A of this workshop provides a discussion forum for teachers on the nature of the parent-teacher relationship from their own experience focussing on:
The positive and negative impacts of conflict on teachers.
Why conflict in this relationship can have a negative impact on teachers.
Understanding the reasons why some parents challenge teachers.
Part B provides practical support and guidance to teachers in the following areas:
Managing conflict in the parent-teacher relationship.
Building resilience in the workplace.
Communication skill building.
