21SPR46 Technology Supported Assessment – Effective Assessment Procedures

The aim of this course is to provide Primary school teachers with practical support for including the principles of Assessment for Learning (AFL) in their teaching and learning.  Employing technology to support effective assessment, teachers will be encouraged to recognise and value the role of technologies in promoting effective assessment procedures and capturing and using reliable assessment data.  They will also come to appreciate the value of supporting student self-assessment and peer assessment and recognise how to advance effective feedback protocols.  A practical and hands on course, the aim is to encourage teachers and educators to use technologies to develop assessment resources for their classrooms which are informed and underpinned by the NCCA (2007) guidelines for effective assessment.  The course also lends itself to the promotion of 21st Century learning skills
